Este es un libro que tienes que leer. no inporta si eres creyente, religioso, oh ateo. este es un libro que te dejara asombrado de lo que contiene. vale el tiempo, dinero, y todo momento que dediques leyendolo. yo creo que puede ser un libro tan controversial como el codico davinci. este libro solamente en amazon llevas mas de 2600 copias vendidas.. Que pasa con nosotros los latinos. tenemos que enterarnos por que tiene tantas ventas alrededor del mundo en ingles, y la razon es porque tiene un secreto escondido en plena vista de todos.

Es asombroso poder reconocer que hay una gran similitud en la fundacion de dos grandes paises como lo son Estados Unidos e Israel, en cuanto al compromiso que establecieron con el Mismo Dios y como al fallar en el mismo, El Señor, tiene que juzgar de la misma manera a Israel primeramente y ahora a los Estados Unidos. DIOS ES JUSTO.
Por otro lado, el libro esta escrito de una manera tan interesante que nos lleva de misterio, en misterio hasta revelar el justo juicio de Dios ante la actitud desafiante de Estados Unidos haciendo las mismas declariones que hizo Israel en su momento, hace mas de dos mil quinientos años.
En relidad, es un libro que recomiendo a cualquier persona que este interesada en saber los misterios y la realidad espiritual en la que hoy esta esta nacion.

Fabulous addition to the world of Wolfie

AWESOME! I have always loved Wolfie, Terra and the rest of the pack. This set was fantastic as it gave me the background and filler information that I had been dying to know about Wolfie’s life before Terra all in one sitting. Of course that was a double edged, since at one point I had to close the book and take a break not believing what had happened.

This serial could probably be read without reading any of the other Wolfie and Terra stories. But the best ah-ha & oh-no moments are better appreciated if this is read after those. There are author notes before some sections about the timelines if you wanted to read everything in order.

Bloodling Wolf – Who Wolfie is and how he came to have a pack outcasts. From the moment he is born, Wolfie is already an outcast and yet he survives to go on with his on pack.

In Deep Shift – Wolfie begins to really understand being an alpha and leading a pack. Wolfie’s brother calls on him to support him at All Pack and Wolfie finds that it’s time to make a stand. Being

Two Scents’ Worth – This packed a punch. I had no clue what was waiting for me in this book. The fact that Wolfie had known about Chief Wilder’s children long before meeting Terra. This was Wolfie stretching and growing into his full size pack leader.

Feint of Heart – This is the place where I had to walk away from the book for a while. Wolfie takes on a challenge and almost fails it. It’s where I was a little in disbelief at Wolfie. Fen really stood up and showed her alpha potential here.

Hair Apparent – Wolfie faces some real challenges. While the challenges start outside of his pack, it does affect his pack and how he must lead. At the end there is the twist that makes you wonder if Chief Wilder was so crazy after all and did he really win in the end.

Delve into the mind of Wolfie Young!

I have read most everything written by Aimee Easterling and have thoroughly enjoyed all of her shifter novels. This serial was no exception.

This serial is told from the point of view of Wolfie Young, who I first got to know in the Wolf Rampant trilogy. In that series, Wolfie is an intriguing character, but he is a bit of a mystery. He has the appeal that leave female readers swooning, but he was always seemed like an enigma to me. I wanted to know more about Wolfie and this serial made that happen. My whole understanding of Wolfie has changed since reading this along with my appreciation for the Wolf Rampant series. I thoroughly enjoyed getting the backstory on Wolfie and his early life. The reader gets to know him in a way you can't in the other books. You see his struggles and you fall in love with him even more. He is the honorable, strong and caring alpha you've grown to love in the other books and after reading this, I know why he is the way he is. It was interesting getting to know how his pack, a lovable band of yahoos who I've loved since Shiftless, came together. I also liked the interaction with the Wilder Clan, since I already knew the outcome of everything from reading the Wolf Rampant trilogy.

Terra, Wolfie's mate, is introduced in this book and I loved getting Wofie's perspective on their first meeting. Wofie's despicable older brother, Justin, is in this book as well and I didn't think I could possibly detest him anymore than I already did, but after reading how he treated Wolfie throughout their life, I truly hate Justin! (This is a compliment to the author!)

As always, Easterling's writing is impeccable. Her words choices are so smart and I always learn at least one new word after reading her novels.

This book has action with a little bit of romance and I highly recommend it. Once again, Aimee Easterling has impressed me. Can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next!

The only thing missing is popcorn!

Aimee Easterling's story, The "Complete Bloodling Serial" takes on the early life journey of Wolfie Young, the outcast bloodling wolf. He, being born as a wolf pup, rather than born as a child and shifting around the age of 14 has the odds stacked against him fresh from his mother's womb.

This serial fills in the blanks of the young character's past through the present (to the start of "Shiftless".) His pack's familial bonds, characteristic lupine versus human traits and the often present wolf tongue hanging out of the mouth "doggie laugh." His struggle to integrate the two legged over wrought emotions versus the simpler pragmatic wolf bare necessities are what made him a character to be respected and feared.

My goal is not to give any spoilers, but to suggest that any reader who is on the fence about continuing to delve into the Werewolf world, jump right in, let the pack come to you and get lost in the world that could never be boring with old traditions, hysterical festivals, twisting gender roles and power that you can feel emanating from the pages. I read these episodes in one sitting and feel as if I've gone to the movies, the only thing missing is popcorn.

Best anatomy text for medical students.

Easily the best anatomy atlas for medical students like myself. It is laid out exactly as I want it and easier (and more accurate) then trying to google what I'm looking for. Simply search for the structure on my ipad or computer and my question is answered. It further aids my studies by placing easy to read diagrams next to actual cadaver pictures. The only thing I could ask for is a bigger index of terms in the back of the paperback, but let's be real, I rarely use the paperback.

Communicating Effectively

We use this book at the Florida State University to teach a Freshman/Sophmore level Public Speaking class. It's a great book because it's simple and straight-forward. It approaches the student with real-world examples and presents solutions for the individual to overcome fears/roadblocks to public speaking.
I recommend this book as a textbook for any student of public speaking. It's also written so it can be read cover to cover so it can be used out of the classroom!

Good communication is very important, and this book is one of the best books I have in my library on this subject. I also got the companion book, Bridges Not Walls 6th edition and together there is a wealth of valuable information and usable tools for good communication.

Poorly Written

For a book about communications, this book is poorly written. The subjects discussed are too complicated to be adequately explained by the over-simplistic writing style. Written very conversationally, much of the book seems more like rambling rather than proper elaboration on the communication process. Though I usually like seeing diagrams that accompany wordy explanations, the diagrams in the book are poorly constructed and more confusing than the worded message.

On the plus side, the book is a quick read.

With the Confederacy's defeat, Reconstruction seemed like the dawn of a new era to blacks and progressive whites, but it was not to be. The Panic of 1873 (called "the Great Depression" until the 1930s) shattered hopes for a modernized and prosperous Southern economy. By 1870 the Ku Klux Klan had entrenched itself in nearly every Southern state, targeting black schools and churches. Many Northern philanthropists vigorously opposed integration; politicos rose to power by playing upon voters' prejudices; patronage, racism and corruption were rampant. Despite its failures, Reconstruction initiated a massive experiment in interracial democracy, and as Foner demonstrates, blacks, far from being passive victims, helped set the political and economic agenda. This invaluable, definitive history re-creates the post-Civil War period as a pivotal drama in which ordinary people get equal billing with politicians and wheelers and dealers. Foner, who teaches at Columbia, is author of Nothing but Freedom and editor of America's Black Past.

Unconscionable chapter in American history

It is a pleasant fiction held by many, even taught in high schools, that the Civil War was fought to free slaves and in fact did just that. Unfortunately, such a view is simplistic in the extreme. This book demolishes any such simplistic notions in its comprehensive examination of the incredible struggles of freedmen and their allies during the era of Reconstruction, 1865-1877, to achieve even a modicum of freedom, much of which had been yanked away by the end of the 19th century by the old Southern oligarchy. Despite the overall excellence of the book, the sheer volume of the information of this tumultuous time makes this book a challenging read. Economic, sociological, and political developments are examined from the intersecting parameters of individual states, multi-state farming regions, race, class, political parties, North vs. South, businessmen vs. farmers, etc.

One fact that this book makes evident is that Reconstruction was not one, well-thought program. In fact, Reconstruction lurched from one policy to the next, involving at various times the control of the Union army, the Freedman's Bureau, Presidential Reconstruction, Radical (Congressional) Reconstruction, policies of neglect, and finally Redemption. In addition, these multifarious programs and regimes of control were capriciously managed almost always to the detriment of freedmen, depending on the competencies and prejudices of administrators. Reconstruction, if nothing, is very complex - difficult to summarize.

The author details any number of pervasive factors that formed a backdrop to the entire period of Reconstruction. First, he notes a substantial divide between upcountry, small yeoman farmers and Blackbelt plantation owners. Many of those yeomen had Union sympathies, if not actually serving in the Union army, which resulted in harsh retribution at the hands of Confederates. After the War, they shared with freedmen a strong tendency, at least initially, to vote Republican and a vulnerability to the depredations of the crop-lien system. More significant was the utter unwillingness of Southern elites to give up total control over their former slaves. They wanted no part of Northern free-labor ideology. They induced Union army occupiers, as well as through Black codes, passed during President Johnson's version of Reconstruction, to make it illegal for a freedman to be unemployed, and in some cases, to live in towns, to not be under a year-long labor contract, to travel freely, etc. However, it was the reaction of both radical and moderate Republicans to this harsh regime that sought to virtually re-enslave that precipitated Radical Reconstruction. Congress overrode Presidential vetoes of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the Fourteenth Amendment and in the Reconstruction Act demanded that Southern states ratify that Amendment and legislate freedmen suffrage before being readmitted to the Union.

By far the most horrendous aspect of Reconstruction was the unmitigated violence perpetrated on freedmen by white Southerners. The violence organized under the Ku Klux Klan was so pervasive that Congress created special legislation to curtail it. But the Klan was only the tip of the iceberg. After the War, the violence was mostly to enforce the Black Codes; later, after the readmittance of the states, the ascendance of the Republican Party, and the election of hundreds of local and state freedmen, the violence was used to deter political participation. The Colfax Massacre in Louisiana, April, 1873, in which whites in support of the Democratic candidate in a disputed election killed at least 150 blacks, some waving white flags of surrender, is only the most egregious of countless acts of violence. It was this sort of intimidation that played a large role in more Southern states being "redeemed" each election cycle.

Of course, the North was an inextricable part of Reconstruction. Many so-called Radicals, led by Congressman Thaddeus Stevens, wanted to confiscate rebel lands and redistribute them to freemen. As the author shows, some redistribution occurred, but often such takings were overruled and lands returned. Moderates wanted reconciliation and amnesty, partly to make the South a safe place for Northern investments, especially in railroad building. The Depression of 1873 abruptly ended inflated hopes that a new era of prosperity would raise all boats, including the fortunes of freedmen. But more important to the demise of Reconstruction than economic disruptions was a shift in Republican Party concerns from a principled opposition to slavery and the coercion of freedmen to a concern with electoral politics. Increasingly, it was held that freedmen must achieve civil and political equality on their own, regardless of the forces arrayed against them; and that the expanded, interventionist state necessary to fight the Civil War must be reduced. Less principled, it was suggested that Reconstruction had been a terrible mistake, wasted on people without the capacity to fully contribute to society. The backroom dealings that put Rutherford B. Hayes in the White House in 1877, retaining Republican control, essentially ended Reconstruction, permitting Southern elites to reverse virtually all of the gains of the previous ten years - the re-imposition of slavery being the only exception. Even forms of Black Codes were reinitiated.

In the final analysis, the author contends that Reconstruction was a failure. It did not integrate freedmen into society. Despite legislation and several Constitutional amendments freedmen were, in practice, not able to exercise wide-ranging civil and political rights inherent in US citizenship. The author suggests that the failure reflects on the inadequacy of the national state, not its being too large as claimed. Yet, the status quo was changed. For a brief period, there was joint government involving blacks and some whites. It was the insistence of freedmen that led to the funding and establishment of public schools as well as community-based institutions including churches, fraternal organizations, and mutual-aid societies, many of which endured and sustained the black community during the dark era of Jim Crow, or the imposition of blatantly discriminatory laws.

Some reviewers have suggested that the author's alleged affinity for Marxist thought invalidates the book. In actuality, the book is very even-handed, very detailed, and sources well documented. The book, however, does not sugarcoat the egregious suppression of rights and the killing of thousands of freedmen for trying to exercise those rights. Furthermore, these reprehensible acts went on for one hundred years. This book is probably not widely read; it should be. No other book even attempts to be this thoroughgoing in describing and explaining Reconstruction. Sadly, this book is a window into the conceit of American moral superiority.

The definitive Reconstruction book

Dozens of books have been written about the Civil War, but so few have been written about the period afterward, known as Reconstruction. One picture this book paints is of a 3-way feud among the rich whites (who had owned plantations & slaves before the war), the poor whites (who had been self-sufficient farmers) & the emancipated slaves. The war & Reconstruction changed the lives of all 3 groups forever, not necessarily for the better. For those who want to know more about this chapter of American history than they were taught in high-school & college history classes, this is the definitive book.

Reconstruction Revisited

A major undertaking. Eric Foner and Leon Litwack (Been in the Storm so Long) have rescued Reconstruction from the dustbin of history. Each has offered a timely re-exploration into one of the most pivotal periods in American History. For Foner, Reconstruction represents the often forgotten conclusion to the Civil War, an attempt to address the social injustices that resulted from over two centuries of slavery. What is even more compelling about Foner's account is that he absorbs the early women's suffrage movement into this early battle for Civil Rights.
This remarkably well-researched book gives probably the most thorough examination of Reconstruction to date. Foner begins in 1863 with the emancipation proclamation, and carries the era through to 1877, when a fateful compromise was reached by Republicans and Democrats which led to the notorious period of Redemption, in which most of the gains during this period of time were nullified.
Foner covers a tremendous amount of ground. He has uncovered old court records and other valuable information, which demonstrate just how active a role Blacks had in Reconstruction. He notes the seminal work of W.E.B. DuBois (Black Reconstruction in America), which went largely ignored by the "Dunning School," which interpreted Reconstruction as an unmitigated failure in social improvement. Foner, like DuBois, notes how many beneficial social changes came as a result of Reconstruction such as public health, education and welfare. But the Redeemers could hardly stand to see Blacks in power, and fought tooth and nail to re-establish the old social order in the South, finally winning over the Grant administration, which pardoned the Southern states, and allowed them to regain the political ascendency, much to the chagrin of the Radical Republicans, who had been instrumental in shaping the Civil Rights legislation of this time.
This book presents so many revealing portraits. It is as much a social as it is a political history of Reconstruction. Of the many compelling stories was the attempt by Blacks to make a thriving concern of the former Jefferson Davis plantation. Despite the fact that Jefferson Davis' brother had ceded the plantation to the former slaves, the Mississippi courts eventually gave title to Davis' heirs. During this brief halcyon period, the freedmen had made a success of the plantation, never realized under the Davis administration. Foner offers this case, as well as many others, to demonstrate that the former slaves were fully committed to Reconstruction, and so this as the opportunity to gain the social and political ascendency they had long been denied.
One is left to wonder what it might have been like had callous Republicans like Rutherford B. Hayes not sold out Reconstruction, and allowed the process to continue through the late 19th century. Instead, the Redeemers nullified much of what had been gained, leading to the notorious era of Jim Crow.

About the Author
The life and teachings of Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen anticipated and embodied the spirit of both the Second Vatican Council and the New Evangelization. A gifted orator and writer, he was a pioneer in the use of media for evangelization: His radio and television broadcasts reached an estimated 30 million weekly viewers. He also wrote more than 60 works on Christian living and theology, many of which are still in print. Born in 1895, Sheen grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and was ordained a priest for the diocese in 1919. He was ordained an auxiliary bishop in New York City in 1951. As the head of his mission agency, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (1950 1966), and as Bishop of Rochester (1966-1969), Sheen helped create 9,000 clinics, 10,000 orphanages, and 1,200 schools; and his contributions educated 80,000 seminarians and 9,000 religious. Upon his death in 1979, Sheen was buried at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. His cause for canonization was returned to his home diocese of Peoria in January 2011, and Sheen was proclaimed "Venerable" by Pope Benedict XVI on June 28, 2012. The first miracle attributed to his intercession was approved in March 2014, paving the way for his beatification.

beautiful, simple and humble -

A very simple and holy devotion. Makes it easy to pray this particular devotion every single day. Can carry this little booklet with me when I go to multiple doctor appointments - especially when sitting in the office of my oncologist at Tufts waiting for my appointment and for "results" of tests. Very unobtrusive, very private and personal time to devote to prayer. Also, lovely add on to my devotion to the Three O'clock Hour of Divine Mercy. I say Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and then have plenty of time to respectfully and reverently pray the Stations of the Cross. Very pleased with the quality, the reverent content, the simple and humble beauty of the format, written devotion and lastly, the cost which for someone on Social Security and living below the poverty level, I appreciate immensely.

Arch-Bishop Sheen at his finest

While conveniently sized and traditionally arranged this pocket sized book is super for those who wish to practice the Stations with quiet personal reflections as only Arch Bishop Sheen can evoke. While the size is perfect to fit in a shirt pocket and allow one to follow the stations before/after mass the only reason I limit the selection to 4 stars is because I would so much like if the book contained more of Arch Bishop Sheen's reflections. He is truly an inspired Catholic communicator!
